Common Causes

Why Is theAirflow Weak

Strong airflow is essential for cooling a Las Vegas home. When air barely trickles from the vents, your house stays warm while the equipment runs constantly.

  • Clogged Air Filter

A thick layer of dust stops air from entering the system. The blower cannot push air out of the vents if it cannot pull air in.

  • Failing Blower Motor

The indoor motor spins a fan to move conditioned air. If the motor is wearing out, it spins too slowly to push air to the far rooms.

  • Frozen Evaporator Coil

Ice blocks the flow of air through the indoor unit. This can point to a refrigerant leak or a severe airflow restriction.

  • Crushed Ductwork

Flexible ducts in the attic can be crushed or torn. This stops the air from reaching specific vents in your Las Vegas home.

  • Closed Dampers

Dampers inside the ducts control where air goes. If a damper is stuck closed, it cuts off the airflow to that zone entirely.

  • Dirty Blower Wheel

Dust packs tightly into the curved blades of the blower wheel. This changes their shape, so the fan moves less air through your home.

Safe Checks

What to CheckBefore You Call

You can look for obvious blockages without taking the equipment apart. Try these steps before requesting a diagnostic visit.

  1. Inspect the Filter

Pull out your indoor air filter. If you cannot see light through it, replace it with a clean one and check the vents again.

  2. Check Vent Covers

Walk into the rooms with weak airflow. Ensure the louvers on the vent covers are fully open and not blocked by furniture.

  3. Look for Ice

Check the copper pipes near your indoor unit. If you see ice, turn the cooling off and set the fan to on so it melts, and call us if it comes back.

  4. Check Your Breaker

Look at your electrical panel. If the breaker tripped, reset it once to see if the blower starts, but if it trips again, leave it off and call us.

When to Stop and Call a Professional

Do not attempt to clean the blower wheel or touch internal electrical parts. If your filter is clean and the vents are open, a technician needs to inspect the motor, measure the refrigerant and check the attic ductwork safely.

Service Visit

What Our Technician Does

We send a background-checked technician to find what is restricting the airflow in your home.

  • Find the Cause: We inspect the blower assembly, check the indoor coil for ice and evaluate the ductwork to find the restriction.

  • Show What Failed: We show you the torn duct, the dirty blower wheel or the failing motor so you understand the problem.

  • Written Flat-rate Price: We give you a clear price for the repair before we start. You know the cost upfront, with no hourly billing.

  • Repair and Test: We replace the faulty component or repair the ductwork. We then test the airflow at the vents to ensure normal pressure.

Common Questions

Weak Airflow Questions

We hear these questions from homeowners dealing with warm rooms and poor air circulation.

Why is airflow weak in just one room?

Weak airflow in a single room usually points to a duct issue. The flexible duct leading to that room might be disconnected, crushed or torn in the attic. A closed vent or stuck damper can also isolate the problem to one area.

Can a high MERV filter reduce airflow?

Yes. Filters with high MERV ratings use denser material to catch small particles. If your system was not set up for that filter, it can restrict airflow, and a technician can tell you which filter suits your system.

Will adding refrigerant fix weak airflow?

Refrigerant cools the air, but the blower motor moves it. Low refrigerant can cause the indoor coil to freeze, which blocks the air path. In that case, fixing the leak and adding refrigerant resolves the icing issue.

How often should I change my filter to prevent this?

Check the filter every month and change it at least every three months. In the dusty summer and monsoon months, change the filter whenever the monthly check shows it is dirty.

Does duct cleaning improve airflow?

We do not offer duct cleaning. Weak airflow usually comes from a dirty filter, a frozen or dirty coil, a failing blower or damaged ductwork. We repair, seal and replace ductwork.
