The Basics
General HVAC
Common questions about heating and cooling systems.
How long do air conditioners usually last in Las Vegas?
Central air conditioners commonly last about 15 to 20 years. Heat pumps typically last about 10 to 15 years.
What should I do if I smell gas?
Leave the home right away. From a safe place outside, call 911 and Southwest Gas. Do not touch light switches, thermostats or anything that could spark.
How often should I change my air filter?
Check the filter every month and change it at least every three months. Las Vegas dust can load filters faster during the summer.
Why are the upstairs rooms hotter than downstairs?
Two-story homes often have uneven temperatures between floors. This can point to unsealed ductwork, poor attic insulation, or a system that struggles to push enough air.
Do you clean ductwork?
No, duct cleaning is not offered. We do repair, seal and replace ductwork, as well as balance airflow.
Service Calls
Repair and Scheduling
What to expect when you book a visit.
When will the technician arrive?
We book visits in scheduled arrival windows. We will call you 30 minutes before the technician arrives at your home.
Do you charge by the hour for repairs?
No, we use flat-rate pricing. The technician provides a written price before any work begins, and that price does not change once approved.
Do you offer emergency service at night?
Yes. For no cooling in summer, no heat in winter, or water leaking indoors, our technicians go out evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
Do you promise a response time?
No. When you call, we tell you when a technician can come, and a real person answers the phone 24/7.
Will you show me what broke?
Yes. Our technicians find the cause and show you the failed part, such as a bad contactor or a blown capacitor, before giving repair options.
New Equipment
Installation and Replacement
Questions about upgrading your system.
Do you charge for replacement estimates?
We provide free, written, in-home estimates for new systems and replacements. Elena Navarro reviews every replacement estimate before it goes to the homeowner.
Should I replace my AC just because it is old?
We never recommend replacement on age alone. However, it may be time to consider replacement if an air conditioner or heat pump is older than 10 years.
How do you size a new air conditioner?
We look at the whole home, including insulation, windows, sun exposure and existing ductwork. We never base sizing on square footage alone.
Will you protect my floors during an installation?
Yes. We use drop cloths and shoe covers inside every home, and we clean the work area before we leave.
What refrigerants do new systems use?
Since January 1, 2025, new residential air conditioners and heat pumps are made for lower-impact refrigerants such as R-454B and R-32.
Payment Options
Financing and Warranties
How we stand behind our work and offer payment options.
Is financing available for new systems?
Financing is available on new systems and larger repairs, subject to credit approval through a third-party lender.
What is your warranty on a new installation?
We provide a two-year labor warranty on new installations, plus the manufacturer’s parts warranty. The parts warranty length is set by the manufacturer, and registration may be required.
Do you guarantee your repair work?
We provide a one-year workmanship guarantee on repairs. We also provide a satisfaction guarantee on every job.
Are there tax credits for a new AC?
The federal 25C home-improvement tax credit ended for equipment installed after December 31, 2025. NV Energy’s PowerShift program offers discounts on qualifying air conditioners and heat pumps, and we help you check which programs apply to the equipment you choose.
Do you offer any discounts?
We offer 5% off for seniors, military, veterans and first responders. Mention the offer when you call or book.
Upkeep
Maintenance and the Comfort Club
Keeping your system running through the seasons.
What is included in a cooling tune-up?
We check refrigerant pressures, rinse the outdoor coil, test the capacitor, clear the condensate drain line, and check the blower.
What does the Kestrel Comfort Club cost?
The plan is $17 a month. It includes a cooling tune-up in spring and a heating tune-up in fall.
What are the benefits of the Comfort Club?
Members get priority scheduling when they call and 10% off repairs.
Can I cancel the maintenance plan?
Yes, the plan is month to month and you can cancel any time.
